16th Annual Energizing Summit a Crowd Pleaser

The American Board of Certified Haircolorists (ABCH) held their annual Energizing Summit on June 12-13. 47 educators teaching 143 classes in two days made the Summit one of the best haircolor educational events in the nation. Over eight hundred eager haircolorists converged on the LAX Marriott Hotel in Los Angeles, California to enjoy the camaraderie and the education offered at the Energizing Summit.

From the opening ceremony, with Miseal Apointe as MC, and the keynote address by Gordon Miller, to the closing ceremony and all of the classes in between, the 16th annual Energizing Summit was a smashing success, kicked off by a cocktail party on Saturday evening to celebrate 15 years of outstanding education.

Everyone enjoyed the classes and interacting with a group of haircolorists with a common goal. Andre Nizetich, President of ABCH stated, "We are only able to charge such a reasonable fee for this educational event because all of the educators donate their time and knowledge. It is quite remarkable to have such a dedicated group of individuals that give of their time." He goes on to say, "Our goal is not to sell products but to educate the attendees on how to become better haircolorists."

The ABCH mission statement is to develop a higher standard for haircolorists so they can live a better standard of living. "It is very difficult to learn haircoloring watching someone on a stage putting foils in the hair," Nizetich notes. "One needs to have interaction with the educator so we keep our classes small."

Courtney vonBerg was the recipient of the "Andy" award. The special plaque was presented at the general assembly prior to the Summit. The award goes each year to an individual who is most instrumental in promoting the American Board of Certified Haircolorists. vonBerg has taught at every Summit since its inception. She displays herself as the utmost professional and is a credit to the haircolor community. Her eye for color and the ability to use just the perfect color on a client makes her an exceptional haircolorist.
