Tampa Stylist Recognized for Contributions to Women

Vanessa Howard, a Design Essentials stylist, was recently recognized on the nationally syndicated "Meredith Viera Show." Design Essentials was proud to salute Vanessa Howard for her contributions to the women of the Tampa community. Submitted to the show by her five daughters at the "Wish Booth" in Tampa, Howard was selected to come to New York for recognition of the work she is doing through her Giving Hands Beauty Salon in Tampa, Florida. Each month, she opens her door to homeless women and women in shelters for a free day of beauty, where she and a volunteer staff (including her daughters) pamper the women with beauty services and treatments from her own funds.

To support Howard, in her efforts to give back to the homeless women in her community, her five daughters flew to NYC to present $5000 to her on behalf of Design Essentials for assistance with supporting the salon itself. In addition, to help her with her fledgling salon, Design Essentials also provided $2500 in products to offset the products used on her "giving days."

As part of Design Essentials "Strength To Shine" initiative, the brand acknowledges and supports women who have recognized accomplishments in the face of extraordinary circumstances while contributing to their communities. With Howard having previously experienced homelessness herself, she always had the desire to assist women in similar predicaments as soon as she was able to. She pays for the "giving days" out of her own pocket, which is a struggle for her newly opened salon, but that has not deterred her from continuing to give back.
