Cie Sparks Salon Opens at Famed Malibu Country Mart

Power Duo Michael Sparks and Heather Cie's Much-Anticipated Beachside Salon Opens

Nestled alongside rows of luxury boutiques and seated next to the renowned celeb hotspot Mr. Chow, Malibu's premiere beauty destination opened its doors complete with the warmth of California sun, grit of the sand and delicate waves of perfectly tousled hair. Cie Sparks Salon, the first salon from the esteemed beauty duo of stylist Michael Sparks and colorist Heather Cie, blends the ease of California's iconic coastal lifestyle with the expertise from Hollywood's bourgeoning beauty experts. Sparks and Cie, protégés of top stylist Chris McMillan (Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox) and colorist Tracy Cunningham (Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore), respectively, are two of the most sought after experts in their fields and have finally combined their forces to shake up the industry with the debut of their salon at the iconic Malibu Country Mart.

A former NFL football player, Michael Sparks started his career studying under Jennifer Aniston's hairstylist Chris McMillan, the man behind the countless number of iconic "Rachel" cuts. It was with McMillan that Sparks perfected his craft, handling the manes of some of the biggest names in Hollywood while growing his roster of clients which now spreads from Beverly Hills to New York City. Sparks' work has been featured on the covers of the countless magazines like Marie Claire and Esquire in addition to working with Hollywood's most notable personalities such as Courtney Cox, Lena Dunham, Kristen Chenoweth Miranda Cosgrove and Jaimie Alexander.

On the same accord, Heather Cie found her start with industry titan Tracy Cunningham, the woman responsible for transforming the locks of red carpet mainstays Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz. Cie's knack for creating looks that feel more natural and sunkissed rather than blatantly dyed has become her trademark, a technique that has become the reason why flocks of Los Angeles' most style savvy head to Cie's chair. Cie has worked alongside leading ladies Kate Beckinsale, Rachel Taylor, Gillian Jacobs, and Kinga Phillips in addition to being featured as a Five Star Colorist with Allure Magazine.

"We've always dreamed of opening a salon near the beach so we're extremely fortunate to open a location in such a pristine setting! We're huge fans of the Malibu area and when the opportunity for the space arose, I couldn't help but take the offer!" says co-‐owner Michael Sparks. "We are one of the only high end salons in Malibu and a great fit for the community; most of our clients come from this side of town and we're glad to help make their salon commute a little easier," added Heather Cie.

The salon was designed by Los Angeles native Shayne Blue. Blue's portfolio has included acclaimed architect Frank Gehry's interior in Los Angeles' Rustic Canyon neighborhood to former Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's Santa Monica abode. Blue's use of unique vintage pieces to sophisticated contemporary accents feel modern yet inviting. In addition to color by Cie and cuts by Sparks, the salon includes a team of seasoned stylists who will be offering services including extensions, blow-‐outs, braids and unique Japanese one-‐of-‐a-‐kind nail art manicures by Maya, the nail artist for celebs Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Kelly Osbourne and Jessica Simpson. The salon is located at 3835 Cross Creek Road in Malibu.
