I remember sweeping hair as a little girl in my parents' salon. I learned so much there about the business, watching them cut and color hair, listening to them laughing and chatting with clients. My mother and father would tell me again and again about how important relationships are to the business … about how important they are to anything that matters.

I became a stylist myself, worked in a number of traditional, open-floor salons and decided that there had to be a better way of doing this.

What I loved about the business was the artistry, the creativity and the wonderful relationships between stylists and their clients. I loved our family gatherings with friends and colleagues where we'd talk endlessly about the latest styles and trends. What I did not like was the sometimes exhausting drama on the salon floor and the hassles of owning a salon that could be such an incredible distraction.

The solution became the formula for the Phenix Salon Suites, the growing salon suite franchise with nearly 100 locations now across the country, but that success is about so much more than providing our salon professionals with private salon suites. The real reason for our success is that we put the needs of the salon professional first. This is a heartfelt principle for our business that harkens back to the lessons my parents taught me about relationships, and it has set a new standard for the salon industry.

My family started in the salon industry 85 years ago, a legacy that gave me the understanding to see what needed to happen. With 25 stylists in my family, I want to take care of salon professionals, and I understand how to do that. We know what it's like to stand behind a chair all day, and we know how satisfying it is to provide our clients with beautiful results.
