Glen Dow Academy Celebrates 45 Years in Beauty Industry

Glen Dow Academy is celebrating its 45th anniversary of being in the cosmetology business. It was founded in 1969 by Glen and Betty Dow. In the early 80s Martin Dow joined the company as a licensed cosmetologist and instructor. Martin worked together with his parents to grow the school and relocate to its present location 309 W Riverside in Spokane, Washington.

The school has graduated nearly 10,000 students in the last 45 years and has influenced thousands by enriching their lives and cultivating professionalism through innovation and inspiration.

Glen Dow Academy maintains the highest standard in education and has been nationally accredited since 1971, by National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts and Sciences, which enables the students to participate in title four funding for grants, loans and scholarships. The school has been well known for having many students win in hair competitions throughout the Inland Empire.

Glen Dow Academy campus buildings are on the national and state historical register. The larger building is 101 years of age built by Kirkland Cutter, a historical architect in Spokane. The smaller decorative white building was voted by the architects of Spokane in 1996 to be the most liked building in downtown Spokane.
