Second Annual “Making the Cut” Live Hair Show Competition Will Name OC’s Top Stylist 2014

Local Stylists Compete for the Title on March 31st

Created by Scott Fontana, celebrity stylist and owner of Cristophe Salon Newport Beach, Making the Cut is the beauty industry’s first and only live hair competition of its kind. Now in its second year and backed by sponsors that include L’Oréal, Milani Hair™, Scott Fontana Collection and Cristophe Salon Newport Beach, the high-end, professionally produced event will feature live hair cutting and styling on stage by leading local stylists and will be judged by a panel of beauty industry elite to award the title of OC’s Top Stylist 2014. Tickets to the show can be purchased for $10 online at or $15 at the door.

After the judges narrow the entries to five finalists, the Making the Cut live hair show competition will take place March 31, 2014, at 6:30 p.m. at the Observatory in Santa Ana, giving the finalists the opportunity to showcase their talent in front of hundreds of locals and media for the chance to win the title of OC’S Top Stylist 2014, as well as $2,500 cash and other prizes. The show will feature the five finalists on stage to perform their own cut and style on a selected model. They will have up to 20 minutes to create their best look live. Once the clock winds down, the finalists will present three other models’ pre-created looks in a featured showcase.

Making the Cut is open to the public and will feature red carpet photo shoots, cash bar and food samples, music, lights, live cutting and styling, a live hair and fashion show, a makeover reveal, and a renowned judging panel that includes Scott Fontana, Laurent D. of Prive’ Salon and products, and Leyla Milani of Milani Hair.
