The Birds and the Bees Help Empower Women Fighting Cancer

The Birds and the Bees is a non-profit organization founded in November 2010 that is dedicated to empowering women who are fighting cancer. For every student certification at The Dallas Skin Institute, the same treatment is donated to a woman who is fighting cancer and to the caregivers/mothers of children with cancer. Same services are also offered at no cost to single mothers who could not otherwise afford these procedures. Services include permanent makeup, lash extensions, airbrush tanning, and waxing.

"Two years ago I lost a really close friend to cancer and watching her struggle inspired me to start an organization called The Birds and the Bees," says Patsy Charles, Founder of The Dallas Skin Institute and The Birds & The Bees. "Through this organization my students and I provide complimentary services to women who have overcome the battle with cancer. During their fight, these women are welcome to come here, take their wigs off and feel comfortable. I tear up when I think about the students who have incorporated the Birds and the Bees into their salons and spas; it really motivates me and my business."
