Clark Russell Salon Team Wins Battle of the Strands

Clark Russell Salon Team Wins Battle of the Strandswith Legends of Las Vegas Theme, Modern Interpretation of CHER

It was a night of Las Vegas Legends, or so the theme was in the Battle of the Strands epic hair, makeup and all things beauty and fashion competition Reality Show. In the international competition, one two teams from the United States were selected to compete in the ultimate challenge. Clark Russell Salon team of Lafayette, CA was one of those teams selected representing the United States, and won the competition.
Many teams from the United States, Mexico, Panama, and Puerto Rico had applied to be part of the reality show, which is hosted by famed Celebrity Stylist Kim Vo and several Beauty Icons as judges. With just 14 teams selected to compete in the filmed finals, half of the teams were eliminated leaving just seven teams to compete in the hair, makeup, nails and fashion competition. Clark Russell Salon Team members Clark Russell, Jeffrey Lotspeich and Jeremiah Broom are among the 7 teams that will be competing for the top title of the number one salon team, and just one of two teams competing in the finales from the United States.
The theme being "Legends of Las Vegas" team Clark Russell Salon, modeled their theme after an entertainer who is synonymous with the culture and entertainment world on Las Vegas, the icon CHER. Team member Clark Russell, Jeffrey Lotspeich and Jeremiah Broom collaborated to create a modern interpretation of CHER's iconic 1986 Oscar Attire. Although the Team did not have legend dress maker Bob Mackie on their side, they did have their own creativity.
With no wardrobe to support CHER's iconic style, the team made due with a $20 budget, body paint, makeup and mounds of hair. Lead Hairstylist, Clark Russell started designing a modern approach of CHER's headpiece, by ditching the Mohawk and designed a more organic, tribal and over the top form. Hairstylist Jeffrey Lotspeich created the skirting with $20 of fabric he purchased at the store to create a modern interpretation of the Bob Mackie dress worn by CHER. The top of the dress was hand painted on the model by Makeup Artist Jeremiah Broom using black body paint, glitter body paint and jewels.
The look was a huge success as it won the Clark Russell Salon Team the Top Tittle of Battle of the Strands! A best friend's Mother, Maria Ray, is the real influence behind Jeffrey entering the beauty industry. While young, he worked at Supercuts but it wasn't until he started spending all of his afternoons at Maria's, watching her create hair magic, that Jeffrey really knew what he wanted to do.
