GILA RUT AVEDA SALONS TEAM UP TO SUPPORT SAN DIEGO LGBT PRIDE PARADE

Gila Rut Aveda Salons LGBT Pride ParadeGila Rut Aveda Salons LGBT Pride ParadeThe three Gila Rut Aveda Salons  in San Diego recently teamed up to build their own giant recyclable ‘Wedding Cake’ Float in support of the San Diego LGBT Pride Parade on July 13.

In sync with the parade’s ‘commitment in marriage and equality’ message, the Gila Rut salon pros built every aspect of their fabulous float, featuring signage of Gila Rut’s own corporate theme: Freedom to Choose, Freedom to Express, Freedom to Create  -- and adding for the parade, Freedom to Love.

The top of the wedding cake featured five mixed race and gender couples. Staff members were transformed into bride-and-groom models with makeup, avant-garde/fantasy hair pieces and recyclable clothing – all handmade by salon team members. Recycled dresses and jackets provided the fashion foundation, which were then creatively covered with magazine pages, packaging paper, empty haircolor boxes and multi-size bottle caps. Each model’s hair and clothes reflected a rainbow of color of the PRIDE FLAG featured on this fabulous float of freedom.

The back of the Gila Rut Aveda Salons’ float read ‘Just Married’, and was completed with empty cans of hairspray (Aveda’s Control Force hairspray cans) replacing traditional wedding’s noisemakers.  The float featured packaging materials such as recycled paper, cardboard boxes, empty hairspray cans and scraped wood shipping pallets.
