Cut-A-Thon for Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation

PRIMARILY HAIR recently hosted a CUT-A-THON event for POLYCYSTIC KIDNEY DISEASE FOUNDATION. The fundraising idea for PKD began in an effort to raise awareness of this disease that affects Primarily Hair owner, Donna Strachan's husband Warren and daughter Allison. Warren is currently awaiting a transplant and Allison was recently diagnosed.


        DATE:  Sunday, April 7th - 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
        LOCATION:  Primarily Hair, 820 E. Whittier Blvd., La Habra, CA  90631
        HAIRCUT:  $20 (arrive with clean hair) 
        NAIL POLISH CHANGE:  $8.00 (select from six colors)
        SPECIAL GUESTS:  Snow White & Prince Charming - 9:00 am - 10:00 am
                                         Rapunzel & Flynn - 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

        BAKE SALE:  Baked goodies, beverages & water - $1.00 each
        FACE PAINTING:  Small designs for $3.00
        RAFFLE:  No purchase necessary

Primarily Hair raised $2313. This total was a collective effort from the bake sale, the anti-oxidant screening from March 30th, face painting, cash donations, jewelry sales, necklace & earring raffle, 10 polish changes and 38 haircuts.

The cookies were donated by Greg Dickinson ( The performers were from Once A Party Time Celebrations (  The balloon arch was donated by Ed Johnson, The Balloon Shop (562-458-5538). Lisa Reed of Oragami Owl will donate a % of her sales ( The Cut-A-Thon banner was donated by America's Choice Signs (562-693-3800).  The necklace and earring set was donated by Ellise Custom Jewelry & Designs ( The face painter, Samantha (stylist Kelly's daughter) donated her talents.  The staff at Primarily Hair donated their time:  Nicole, Kelly, Donna , Lauren , Roseanna, Esther , Gianna , Christin, Stephanie, Mayra , PJ and Gabby.   Additional baked goods and snack items provided by clients Valerie, Luz and Lisa.   Additional volunteers:  James, Janet, David, Meagan , Jessica , Samantha and Nino, provided music, photography and support.
