Beauty Industry Loses a Great Leader

On October 11, 2011, Stylist Newspaper columnist and friend, Ken Cassidy, owner of Kassidy's Salon Management Consultants, passed away.

Ken had a long, vibrant career in the salon and spa industry for more than 30 years. A licensed hairdresser and cosmetology instructor, Ken served on the Advisory Board of Cerritos College Cosmetology Department in Cerritos, California, for more than six years. He was a member of the Long Beach Hairdressers Guild Foundation, PBA, NCA, CCA and PBFC, among others. In addition to running his business and serving as a member of several of the industry's premier organizations, he was the owner of Hair Artists and Pygmalion Salon.

Ken is primarily known for his work educating stylists about employee contract labor. He founded Kassidy's Salon Management in 1992, an organization that has served more than 100,000 licensees with employee, front desk and contract issues. On several occasions, he brought his expertise to the world of politics by sponsoring bills that addressed tax and auditing issues in California's beauty and barbering industry.

Ken's passion and commitment to the beauty industry will be missed.
