Challenging the Beauty Industry to Take a Stand Against Domestic Abuse

Cut It Out has been hailed from coast-to-coast as an innovative solution to a chronic and difficult problem: raising awareness on the epidemic of domestic abuse and helping victims receive the resources they need. Cut It Out is a program of the Salons Against Domestic Abuse Fund dedicated to mobilizing salon professionals and others to fight the epidemic of domestic abuse in communities across the United States. Cut It Out builds awareness of domestic abuse and trains salon professionals to recognize warning signs and safely refer clients to local resources. Salon professionals have a unique and trusting relationship with their clients. The intimate work of a salon professional creates situations in which many telltale signs of domestic abuse can be identified.

Cut It Out 2010 will challenge the professional beauty industry to take a stand against domestic violence, and ask that 2,010 salons and/or individual beauty professionals make a pledge to use the power of beauty to end domestic abuse in America by displaying Cut It Out awareness materials at their front desk, individual stations and bathrooms.

To sign the pledge and receive materials to display in your salon, please visit www.cutitout.org. To donate to The Salons Against Domestic Abuse Fund, call 866.871.0656.

If you or someone you know is the victim of domestic violence and in need of help, please call the National Domestic Violence Hotline toll-free at (800) 799 SAFE (7233).
